Sixth Form

About Us:

Our Sixth Form embodies a holistic approach to education, emphasising not only academic excellence but also personal development and life skills crucial for adulthood. We are deeply committed to equipping our students with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful transition into independent or supported living.
We are dedicated to providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, we prioritise the diverse needs of students with special educational needs (SEN). Understanding the distinctiveness of every learner, we are devoted to nurturing their talents and capabilities.

Our Approach:

At the heart of our approach is personalised learning. We recognise that one size does not fit all when it comes to education, especially for students with SEN. Therefore, we create individualised learning plans for each student, taking into account their strengths, interests, and areas for growth. Our experienced staff work closely with students to provide tailored support and guidance every step of the way.

Who we cater for:

Churchill Park Academy Sixth Form is dedicated to providing further education for young people aged 16-19 who face significant barriers to learning. Our specialised programs are tailored to meet the needs of students with profound and multiple learning disabilities, as well as those who display challenging behaviours.
Whether students require additional support with learning, communication, or behaviour management, we are here to provide the guidance and resources they need to succeed. Sixth Form, we believe that every young person deserves access to quality education and the opportunity to achieve their goals.

Curriculum:

Our curriculum is tailored to each student’s unique needs, ensuring they are prepared for the challenges and opportunities of adulthood. We prioritise the development of essential communication skills, life skills, and independence, while also providing enriching experiences and therapeutic support.
Embedded within our curriculum are the Norfolk ‘Preparing for Adulthood’ areas, encompassing employment, independent living, relationships, community engagement, and health. These areas form the foundation for our students to achieve a successful and fulfilling life beyond school.

Testimonials

“My daughter started in Churchill Sixth Form in September, so this is her first year there. The support she has been provided with has been exemplary! The staff go over and beyond everyday to ensure she is safe, happy and healthy as well as educated.
My daughter found accessing school and transport challenging last year, however the high level of support and smaller cohort in Sixth Form has meant she is keen to go to school each morning and we are seeing progress in her understanding and ability to cope with the world. We are most impressed with the opportunities offered in Sixth Form for accessing the community safely at a level the pupil is capable of coping with.
We are also very grateful for the support we have received this year in applying for PIP and encouraging Norfolk County Council to make alterations to transport to ensure our daughter was able to safely access it.
I cannot express how grateful we are that our daughter has a place at Sixth Form and how impressed we are with the expertise, empathy and understanding of all the staff. They are truly angels on Earth.”

Transition:

In the Sixth Form, our objective is to bridge the transition between children’s and adult services, ensuring a seamless progression for our students and supporting them in making informed decisions regarding their future provision. Our Sixth Form provision is dedicated to fostering the development of skills essential for adulthood, thereby preparing our students for the next phase of their lives. We are actively involved in the processes of identifying appropriate funding and determining the support required for our students as they transition into adulthood. Additionally, we have established strong relationships and open lines of communication with professionals in the PFAL and Continuing Healthcare services.
