Wellbeing

At Churchill Park Academy, we are deeply committed to promoting and supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our whole school community. We recognise that positive wellbeing underpins successful learning, development, and long-term outcomes for all.

We provide a personalised pathway of support for pupils, staff, parents, and carers, ensuring that individuals are supported at every stage of their journey. Our approach is proactive, responsive, and rooted in a strong understanding of individual need.

For our pupils, we offer a comprehensive range of support, including a dedicated therapy hub including a art, music and play therapist a designated Senior Mental Health Lead, and a skilled pastoral team. We use nurture-based approaches and Sylvia Lucas Trauma and Attachment Model, ensuring a consistent, trauma-informed practice across the school.

Pupils are supported through the use of digital developmental portraits, enabling us to accurately assess need and track progress over time. We work closely with Nurture International to screen and support pupils effectively, ensuring early identification and targeted intervention. In addition, our staff are trained in ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant), further strengthening our capacity to meet a wide range of social, emotional, and mental health needs.

We also provide clear signposting and guidance for families and staff, ensuring access to appropriate support both within and beyond the school.

For further information about our graduated pathway of support, please refer to the ‘Path of Support’ section. If you have any questions, please contact the Senior Mental Health Lead.
